What is Acne?

What is Acne?

Acne is a condition most common in teens and young adults (but not limited to). The condition occurs when the hair follicles/pores become blocked with dead skin cells and pores.

Acne can appear as blackheads, whiteheads or pimples. Acne and acne scars on your face and other visible body locations can affect self-esteem and self-confidence. Acne is very treatable.

It is imperative to choose the right products. The wrong products can contribute or worsen acne such as cleansers, creams, moisturizers, and other beauty products with high oil content.

Here are some tips to reduce and prevent acne!

  • Wash face twice daily with an oil-free cleanser
  • Use water-based makeup and products that are less likely to clog your pores.
  • Always remove makeup and cleanse skin thoroughly before bed.
  • Shower or wash your face after exercising.
  • Tie back long hair to keep it out of your face.
  • Avoid tight-fitting hats, headbands, and clothing that covers breakout-prone areas.
  • Eat a balanced diet and keep hydrated.
  • Take steps to reduce stress.
